STAKE 1 NOVICE COCKER. TEDDESLEY PARK 17th OCTOBER 2016
Well we had a fantastic first trial of the season yesterday at Teddesley Park, by kind invitation of Mick Prince and the Estate. We started the day with a lovely breakfast, where introductions were made between our lovely keeper Mick and the judges Jeremy Organ and Alan Hopkins Young and some of our guns for the day. The weather was kind to us, and we had a great day, aided by a full team of help which was a pleasant and welcome surprise ! Several folk, committee and non committee travelled down to spend the day assisting the smooth running of the trial, and I am extremely grateful to them for giving up their day, because it made a huge difference to the day.
Teddesley is a fantastic ground, loads of game, pheasants, partridge, hares and rabbit, and testing conditions for the dogs as the cover (a mixture really of bracken, bramble, woodland and cover crops) is still high due to the time of year and mild conditions.
The standard of the dogs was much better than I had expected, with some awesome dog work, belting little cockers who tried their hearts out. Some very promising newcomers to the scene were there, which is always great to see, and it all made me wish I was competing alongside them! I LOVE cockers!
The results of the day sorted out after a run off for first were
1st - Littleshot Scrappy -owned by Mark Woodcock handled by Bryan Whittacker
2nd- Countryways Knight - owned by Andrea Perrett handled by DaveDavid Templar
3rd - Delphaven Domino - Mick Hurst
4th & Guns Choice Poolgreen Bolton at Meldarly - Mel Melvyn Lomax
